Cogep obtains important mandate from québec city

Québec City, 15 June 2011 – Québec City decided to count on the expertise of COGEP, a company in the high-tech sector, to manage the maintenance of the City’s motorized equipment—a contact evaluated at more than $900,000.

Adding to contracts with more than fifteen cities including Lévis, Longueuil and the Service des incendies de la ville de Montréal (City of Montreal fire department), COGEP recently concluded one of the most important deals in the company’s history from the city in which the company was founded more than 20 years ago. “The key to the success of Guide Ti with regard to municipalities is its ease of use and its database structure that adapts to every need and to the different types of equipment that must be managed,” explained Michel Fournier, President of COGEP. “COGEP’s expertise in the vehicle fleet sector and the quality and reputation of our products and services enabled us to attain the highest score among the tenderers during the rigorous evaluation process that involved 3 phases,” added the president of COGEP. In addition to facilitating better fuel management and safer operation of vehicles, Guide Ti results in improvements in vehicle availability and superior management of equipment and replacement parts. At the Centre de gestion de l’équipement roulant (CGER), the Quebec provincial government has been using Guide Ti for several years already for the same purposes. The CGER is one of the largest fleets in Quebec. According to Fournier, COGEP has an excellent reputation for respecting deadlines and budgets. “We have proven in the past, by large-scale projects such as those of CGER, the City of Longueuil and Sanimax (Canada/USA), that we can even deliver below budget.”

Québec City’s Service de la gestion des équipements motorisés (motorized equipment management service) is pursuing ways of optimizing its services and efficiency by increasing the autonomy of its workers via an easy-to-use software solution and a graphical user interface that is similar to the Microsoft Office user interface. Guide Ti will provide improved communication both internally and externally (with suppliers) thereby ensuring more rapid interventions. Guide Ti’s real-time analysis tools such as dashboards, performance indicators, management reports, anomaly lists, etc. result in improvements in decision making. Finally, the maintenance management software is designed to take into account a diverse collection of vehicles as well as the financial and administrative structure currently in place.

Expertise and portfolio of clients
“Our portfolio of clients who use the same products and services is surely a reassuring factor for potential clients. When Saputo, Bombardier Recreational Products and the Casino de Montréal have placed their trust in you for a number of years, this is comforting for organizations examining our solution”, Fournier explained with a chuckle, visibly pleased that COGEP had won the call for tenders that had also attracted bids from international firms. Today COGEP has already won significant market share with regard to municipalities, the industrial sector, and the firm is benefiting from the economic boom that has characterized the mining sector for the past three years.

COGEP takes up challenges for Québec City
The SGEM serves all administrative units that use or operate vehicles or other types of motorized equipment. With more than 2,000 motorized devices, 800 of which are vehicles or heavy equipment, the SGEM was faced with the huge task of managing vehicle and equipment maintenance and replacement parts. Happily, information technology firms such as COGEP can play a key role in implementing the solutions necessary for efficient management, adaptation and security of equipment.

The SGEM ensures for its client-partners that the availability of vehicles and specialized motorized equipment is at the highest level possible. The City will benefit from mobile technologies developed at COGEP such as smart phones and electronic tablets like the iPad to accelerate decision making.
