Cogep's Newsletter

President's Note

Cogep targets Ontario and Western Canada’s mines.

Having established its role as a leader in the province of Quebec, Cogep inc. targets the mining sectors located outside Quebec.

With clients such as Consolidated Thompson, IAM Gold, Mines Aurizon added to their already lengthy mines within Quebec, there is little to no doubt that Cogep and Guide Ti work effectively and with simplicity to fulfill the extensive needs of the mining managers. We have identified numerous opportunities in the Ontario and western Canada mining sectors, and we believe that our success in Quebec can be brought anywhere else in Canada.  The rising price of gold is a strong stimulus for many mining projects, which has created quite a few opportunities for Cogep. We have validated our products and services outside Quebec and the response is excellent!

New Clients

Mines

In the past month, Aurizon Mines, Polaris – Orca Quarry in British Colombia, Richmond Mines in Ontario and Consolidated Thompson have just been added to Cogep’s mining clients’ list. Consolidated Thompson is building its construction site at Lac Bloom, one of the biggest iron mining projects in Canada.

Fourteen years ago, a first mining company chose Cogep as its maintenance managing solution and purchase management. Since then, more and more mining company chose Guide Ti because of the product but also because of Cogep’s expertise in a very demanding mining sector.

Our expertise in the mining sector was recognized in 2006 by the prestigious “Microsoft Impact Award” for the integration project of Guide Ti and Microsoft solutions for the Myra Falls mine of Breakwater Resources in British Columbia.

With the number of clients in the mining industry, there is little to no doubt that Cogep and Guide Ti answers effectively to the wide range of needs of the mining managers. Underground or outdoors, small or big mines find important benefits with the use of Guide Ti.

Maintenance management, human resources, purchase process, inventories, warranties, suppliers, security norms, financial norms, everything is monitored in Guide Ti.

Cities

The cities have the particularity of having a great quantity of assets from a wide range of categories: real estate assets, vehicles, roads, water systems, parks and green spaces with dozens of other type of equipments. Also, the service requests on these assets can come from thousands (or hundreds of thousands) persons and teams who work together on the job.

The cities of Longueuil, Baie-Comeau and La Tuque have recently brought in Cogep in this demanding environment. Guide Ti is a specialized maintenance tool which allows all work teams to share information while personalizing the use of each need. Guide Ti answers, for example, to the needs of a garage that’s in charge of the city trucks maintenance but also takes care of the needs of the public labor department which can receive citizens’ requests and works on repairing the city’s water pipelines.

The comments of our city clients prove that they are not only very pleased of the Guide Ti software, but with the quality of installation and training offered by Cogep.

Use

Guide Ti has an equipment management module.

Stop looking for your equipment and use Guide Ti to find it.

The Guide Ti component modules combined with the one of the repairable parts will give you much flexibility to follow the route of your specialized equipment.

Do your log out/credits like a useable part and voila! Additionally our PDA program, Guide Ti CE, will allow you to log out a component part of the inventory and to put it back; you can do this with or without a bar code system. This will give you to track your equipment better, to get realistic statistics on the use of this equipment and it will give you a better schedule when you’ll need to carry out your work.

Events

Estrie Industrial Show

The presence of Cogep at the Estrie Industrial show in Sherbrooke during the past September 23rd and 24th, gave us a chance to meet many companies who really want to improve their productivity. In Estrie, even with the impact of the economic crisis, the area is filled with people who want to take a step forward. One of their priorities is to optimize their equipment use, which can only happen with the improvement of their maintenance software. We also talked to many of our clients located in the Estrie area where many companies really gained profit with the use of Guide Ti: BRP, Dagua, Artopex, Prinoth (formerly Camoplast),Granby Zoo, Agropur, Gurit, Enerkem, Neuman Aluminium and the Sherbrooke University Health Center to name a few.

Maintrain Toronto

“Maintrain 2009” took place from November 23rd to 26th in Toronto, a show where the maintenance people from different sectors met in order to improve their maintenance systems. Cogep was there for the 3rd time to discuss the benefits of a “simple” but “well-rounded” CMMS, which gives the users the flexibility they need to improve their maintenance process. The conversation is always lively when discussing other CMMS which took 3 years to implant and still do not function; and then compare it with Guide Ti which is implanted in only 6 months in companies that have 10 sites throughout North America, are multi lingual, and that retrieved old data and information exchange with their current computer systems.

Industrial Maintenance

How do you use preemptive maintenance to increase reliability? How can you predict maintenance trends from equipment conception? How can a better schedule decrease maintenance over time? How can you put in place the “lean” philosophy in maintenance? These are some of the questions that a hundred maintenance specialists tried to answer from January 18th to 19th 2009 at the “Industrial Conference: Combine reliability and efficiency in budget cuts time.”
Cogep was one of the main partners of this two day event organized by the “Journal des Affaires” at the Omni Mont-Royal Hotel in Montreal. The 2 conference days allowed the visitors to attend presentations made by specialists and also by other companies which had achieved interesting improvement projects in the maintenance field.
We got to talk to some of Cogep’s clients present at the event and we also witnessed the energy they put in their explanations to show how satisfied they really are with the Guide Ti software to other companies.
Thank you to our ambassadors.
